First agree on what you want to achieve, in what time frame. Then decide what to do. For example, I was recently working with some colleagues to design a new training experience. Our goal was to find out within an hour what participants would be able to do after the experience. Was the training finished within the hour? No. And that felt crazy. But when I thought about it, I also saw that it wouldn’t be twice as good if we took twice as much time. Better to elaborate on some topics individually first. The broad outlines were there, though. And it was nice to get started.My conclusion: you shouldn’t always want to work harder (or longer), but more importantly, work smarter. Easier said than done?
