Thanks to Ksyos’ platform, patients don’t have to wait as long at the hospital and still get the specialist help that the general practitioner cannot provide. By helping patients do more themselves, Ksyos supports doctors and hospitals. To build out this successful platform, the people of Ksyos organized themselves into four Scrum teams. To Scrum Academy the question to provide a smooth start of the cooperation in these Scrum teams. With a large-scale LEGO Simulation, we helped the teams make clear agreements about roles and responsibilities, within the frameworks of Agile working. Thanks to this one session, collaboration in and between the teams is running even smoother.Rapid growth and little contact: that leads to tensionsDuring the Covid period in 2021, Ksyos grew at lightning speed. But because of the situation, the many new people were not all optimally connected yet. The constraints of that period made it difficult to get to know each other well. Cooperation suffered: it was more like a group of people than a real team. Time for team building! The assignment: organize an Agile team building for our international teamKsyos asked Scrum Academy for a program that would allow 4 teams of about 10 people to gain a similar understanding of the Agile approach. In particular, clarity about roles and responsibilities needed to improve. Ksyos wanted a collaborative start with shared principles. Our approach to an international team dayWe went out with four trainers to facilitate an intensive one-day program for the four international teams. We like to keep what is already working well, so we started with a retrospective: a look back at the work processes of the past time. After we concluded the retrospective with action points, we clarified the roles and responsibilities. A market of skills made it clear what everyone was good at and how the team could best make decisions. In the afternoon, we improved mutual communication with a Large-scale LEGO simulation. In such a simulation, the four teams work together on one common challenge. The facilitators can then reflect well with the teams on agreements and behaviors that promote cooperation. The aim of the simulation is to analyze and tackle the behaviors and underlying patterns that occur in practice. The results are directly applicable in practice the next day.The result of the team day with Large-Scale LEGO simulationAfterwards, you could clearly see that there was more connection in and between the teams. Thanks to the insight into each other’s qualities, team members started to visit each other more often. And above all it was a fun day. Meeting each other in real life and facing challenges together brought a lot of positive energy! Where the cooperation was a bit difficult at first, the teams and team members now seek each other out more often. Want to know if a Large-Scale LEGO simulation is for you?
