Daily Scrum

What is the difference between Daily Scrum and Daily Standup?

There is no difference between a Daily Scrum and a Daily Standup. However, it is important to note that Daily Scrum is the official name. Daily Standup, daily startup … they are all synonyms for the same phenomenon: Daily Scrum.

It is a daily meeting of the team you are taking on the project with. Meetings last a maximum of 15 minutes. The goal: for the next 24 hours figure out the best course to follow. So that the Sprint Goal will be achieved. For example, by asking three questions during the Daily Scrum:

  • What have we been able to do after the last Daily Scrum?
  • What do we plan to do until the next Daily Scrum?
  • Are there any issues we are running into and need help with?

Here are the 6 benefits of a Dailyyscrum

Why is the Dailyscrum meeting important? Good question, but we also have a good answer. Below we’ve detailed all the benefits for you.

  • It improves mutual communication as you have daily contact;
  • It eliminates the need for other meetings;
  • It is an apt way to spot any obstacles;
  • It motivates very smooth and quick decision making (short lines);
  • It optimizes knowledge within the Scrum team;
  • It is always open and transparent. With that, it is not possible to cut corners, because the sprint goal is clear to everyone during the Daily Scrum.

Daily Scrum (or Daily Standup) & Scrum Master

Put the focus on the output you envision. The Scrum Master pays attention to the fact that the output is valuable. The Scrum Master is not comparable to an executive or a project leader, but the development team is in charge. The Scrum Master makes sure the Dailyscrum takes place, everyone is nice and active and there are no endless discussions.
